PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passive type exerciser wherein the exercise strength of a user is made close to target exercise strength by appropriately adjusting a load setting value according to the exercise strength of the user.
SOLUTION: The passive type exerciser is provided with an exercise assisting mechanism for assisting the exercise of the user by performing an operation in a prescribed operation pattern. The passing type exerciser has an exercise strength deriving part 150 for measuring the exercise strength indicating the strength of the exercise of the user, compares measured exercise strength and the target exercise strength set as the target of the exercise strength of the user, and the load setting value for setting the strength of the operation of the exercise assisting mechanism is adjusted according to a compared result. A load setting value adjusting part 142 lowers the load setting value when the measured exercise strength is below the target exercise strength, and increases the load setting value when the measured exercise strength exceeds the target exercise strength.
