The present invention relates to the intramuscular injection of a lentiviral vector into a human. The lentiviral vector contains a promoter directing the transcription of a transgene, which preferably encodes a microbial or tumor antigen to be expressed in a mammalian cell host, preferably APC (DCs). The invention encompasses these vectors, methods of making the vectors, and methods of using them, including medicinal uses.
