PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of brittleness in a ceramic without reducing a mechanical property, in addition to satisfactory biocompatibility, high bioactivity and an excellent coupling characteristic, in calcium phosphate bone cement.
SOLUTION: A composition for the calcium phosphate bone cement containing a polymer contains (a) a calcium salt, (b) a silica compound, (c) a material for increasing plasticity, and (d) a pharmacologically allowed solution independent of the presence of the material for increasing plasticity. The material for increasing plasticity is selected from the group comprising polymer and oligomer materials having a functional group -NH
