The present invention belongs to the field of pharmaceutical industry and relates to an in vitro method for identifying test compounds which are capable of modulating adenosine triphosphate (ATP) release from cells by inhibiting or stimulating an ATP-Binding Cassette Transporter (ABC Transporter)-mediated transport of ATP.
