PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disposable diaper free from fluttering at leg periphery openings but presenting a neat appearance.SOLUTION: A disposable diaper has a crotch portion 3 bent or curved such that widthwise right and left side edges 4 become narrower toward a widthwise inner side. Along the right and left side edges 4, leg surrounding openings are demarcated for putting out right and left legs of a wearer. In the case where the crotch portion 3 is divided, as shown in the widthwise direction, into right and left areas 3a on both right and left sides and a central area 3b positioned between the right and left areas 3a, either one or a plurality of thread-shaped leg surrounding elastic members 11 or one or a plurality of plane-shaped leg surrounding elastic members 11 are fixed in a stretched state at least in the right and left areas 3a, to form extendible areas 11a being wide areas including the leg surrounding extendible members 11.
