The present invention relates to a method for increasing the biostimulant efficacy of a strain of living bacterium or a composition containing it, characterized in that the method comprises a step of inactivation of the strain of living bacterium, the strain of bacteria inactivated thus obtained having a biostimulant efficacy on the development of plants greater than that obtained with the same strain of living bacteria or with a composition containing it. The present invention also relates to a strain of inactivated bacteria and a composition comprising it, for improving the development of a plant.
