A protection system for a surgical blade is disclosed in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. The protection system includes an enclosure configured from a plurality of walls that fits over and at least partially encloses a portion of the surgical blade. The enclosure further includes at least one engaging element configured on internal face of walls defining the enclosure and engages with an at least one complimentary engaging element configured on the surgical blade.
