An oral composition comprising: from about 0.05 to about 10% by weight of polyethylene glycol； from about 0.05 to about 5% by weight of at least one of one or more of the active ingredients found in the magnolia extract or its synthetic an analog selected from magnolol, honokiol, tetrahydromagnolol, tetrahydrochonokiol, 5,5'-di-n-butylbiphenyl-2,2'-diol, isopropylmagnolol, isobutylmagnolol and dichlorormagnolol； a carrier acceptable for oral administration. 2. The composition of claim 1, wherein the polyethylene glycol is contained in an amount of from about 0.1 to about 5% by weight of the composition. A composition according to claim 1 or 2, wherein at least one of the one or more active ingredients is contained in an amount of from about 0.1 to about 3% by weight of the composition. The composition of claim 1, wherein at least one of the one or more active ingredients is isopropylmagnolol. The composition of claim 1, wherein at least one of the one or more active ingredients is magnolol. The composition of claim 1, wherein at least one of the one or more active ingredients is honokiol. The composition of claim 1, wherein at least one of the one or more active ingredients is tetrahydromagnolol. The composition of claim 1, wherein at least one of the one or more active ingredients is tetrahydrochonociol. The composition of claim 1, wherein at least one of the one or more active ingredients is 5,5'-di-n-butylbiphenyl-2,2'-diol. Method for treating or preventing1.
