This disclosure relates to evaluating and objectively determining the relative normalcy of a human patients lips, whether before or after a lip treatment, or independent from any lip treatment. The normalcy of a patients lips is evaluated by examining a number of indicia and comparing the results to corresponding lip scales or reference descriptions. The normalcy may be evaluated before and after a lip treatment to determine the safety of the lip treatment.
