The present invention relates to compounds and methods for detection andtreatment of carcinomas and their precursor lesions. The invention providesDNase nucleic acids and polypeptides useful for the detection and treatment ofcarcinomas and their precursor lesions. The invention is more specificallyrelated to a method for detection of carcinomas and their precursor lesionscomprising the detection of the level and/or the subcellular localization ofone or more DNase molecules in biological samples. Furthermore the presentinvention provides methods for early diagnosis, prognosis and monitoring ofthe disease course of carcinomas and their precursor lesions as well as forthe treatment of said lesions.
