The invention provides compositions For preventing chronic feline kidneydisease, e.g.. chronic renal failure comprising from about 33 to about 38%, orfrom about 28 to about 35% protein and compositions for treating chronickidney disease in felines comprising from about 26 to about 30%, or from about28 to about 30%, wherein the protein comprises at least about 75% vegetableprotein and methods for using such compositions to prevent or treat chronicfeline kidney disease. The invention also provides methods for preparing thecompositions, articles of manufacture comprising the compositions, and meansfor communicating information about the compositions, methods, and articles ofmanufacture.
