The present invention relates to the effective prevention or treatment of macula degeneration, preferably stopping the macula degeneration, or even improving the patients sight. This is achieved by means of administration of vitamin K, or precursor thereof, irrespective of the form used, but preferably vitamin K2 or a precursor thereof. With further preference, vitamin K(2) is combined with magnesium, zinc, and/or vitamin D.
