PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel hepatocyte activator having high safety for living bodies, and having the action to activate the liver function itself, and a medicament and functional food that comprise the hepatocyte activator and are easy to take daily.SOLUTION: This invention provides a hepatocyte activator that comprises gingerols as an active ingredient. Gingerols have the action to activate the liver function itself, and therefore are useful for prevention, improvement and treatment of a variety of liver diseases.
