PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide novel glucose dehydrogenase with excellent properties such as substrate specificity, methods of making, and uses thereof.SOLUTION: The invention provides a flavin-binding glucose dehydrogenase with the following properties (1) and (2): (1) molecular weight: the molecular weight of polypeptide moiety determined by SDS polyacrylamide electrophoresis is about 88 KD; and (2) substrate specificity: reactivity to D-xylose is 1.3% or less when reactivity to D-glucose is taken as 100%.SELECTED DRAWING: None
