A stapler is provided. The stapler includes a handle assembly and a shaftextendingdistally from the handle assembly. A tool assembly is configured toselectively couple to theshaft and includes a cartridge assembly and an anvil assembly. The cartridgeassembly includesa staple guide defining a tissue contacting surface. A resilient memberoperably positionedwithin the cartridge assembly is configured to bias the staple guide distallyto provide apredetermined compressive force against tissue when the cartridge assembly andanvil areapproximated toward one another.
