PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus (MRI apparatus) and a method for correcting a static magnetic field which is especially related to a technique to adjust static magnetic field inhomogeneity caused by a patient to appropriately correct the static magnetic field of a region to be diagnosed.
SOLUTION: A data acquisition part 102 and a main controlling part 107 acquire magnetic resonance signals in a focused region of the static magnetic field. A correction coil 12 and the main controlling part 107 generate a correction magnetic field to correct the static the static magnetic field inhomogeneity from the magnetic resonance signals in a specific region of a part of the focused region out of the acquired magnetic resonance signals.
