Systems and methods which implement a plurality of different imagingsignatures in generating an image frame areshown. A first imaging signature may be configured for providing relativelyhigh quality images with respect to subsurface regionsof living tissue, for example, whereas a second imaging signature may beconfigured for providing relatively high quality imageswith respect to interventional instruments inserted into living tissue at asteep angle. Image sub-frames generated using each suchdifferent imaging signature are blended to form a frame of the final imageproviding a relatively high quality image of variousobjects within the volume being imaged.
