Uses of 12-Imidazolyl-1-dodecanol orpharmaceutically acceptablesalts thereof for preventing or treating cancers, pathological sequelae ofalcohol abuse, viralhepatitis, steatohepatitis, acute and chronic pancreatitis, toxic renaldisorders, hepatic insulinresistance in diabetes mellitus, liver damage associated with Wilson's diseaseand sideroses,ischemia reperfusion damage, for use as an antidote to environmental poisonsandmedicament intoxication, for prolonging the residence time of medicaments inthe organism,for controlling toxic side effects on administration of chemotherapeuticagents, for treatinghyperlipidemia, or for preventing reperfusion damage in transplanted organsare alsoprovided. Pharmaceutical preparations and medicaments are also contemplated.
