The present invention relates to a process for preparing novel synthetic intermediates for vera frost and vera frost. In one aspect, a method is provided for preparing a pharmaceutical compound represented by formula I through a radical cyclization pathway. The method is completed in fewer steps than known synthetic methods and can be carried out to produce commercially useful amounts. In another aspect, there is provided a synthetic method for making veraprost and derivatives thereof, which is stereoselective, efficient, scalable and economical.
