A lighting device including at least one conversion element and a least one LED, which emits light into the conversion element. The light is then converted and emitted with a high radiant flux. The at least one LED emits light in the wavelength range of &gE；220 nm to &nlE；800 nm and the at least one conversion element converts at least part of the light from the at least one LED to light in the wavelength range of >；300 nm to <；1000 nm. In some embodiments, the at least one conversion element includes a ceramic conversion material.
