PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain sweet potato resistant to disease injury by identifying a gene practically expressing disease injury when introduced thereinto and using the gene. SOLUTION: A method for imparting sweet potato cell with resistance to black spot is provided, comprising transforming the sweet potato cell with a recombinant DNA containing a gene encoding a protein mentioned below (A) or (B), i.e. a protein whose expression is induced by neck rot fungus-derived cerebroside-type elicitor that induces acquired resistance in rice and expressing the protein in the sweet potato cell. (A) A protein having a specific amino acid sequence. (B) A protein having an amino acid sequence where one or several amino acids are substituted, deleted or added in the specific amino acid sequence in (A) and having the activity of imparting sweet potato with resistance to black spot.
