PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driver state detection device capable of more accurately estimating a psychological state of a drive, a degree of tension in particular of the driver.SOLUTION: A skin conductance SCL is detected by a resistance sensor 11 provided in a steering handle 1, for example. A high frequency component value HF of a heart beat is detected by an electrocardiographic measurement instrument 12 provided in a driver seat SS, for example. On the basis of the skin conductance SCL and the high frequency component value HF, a psychological state of a driver is estimated, for example, the fact that a driver tenses too much or a driver is in a vague state in which tension is insufficient is estimated. For example, when the SCL is high and it is estimated that the driver may tense too much, it is not estimated that the driver tenses too much when the HF is low. For example, the SCL increases suddenly and it is estimated that a driver may feel shiver, it is not estimated that a driver feels shiver when the HF immediately after sudden increase of SCL is not reduced significantly.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
