PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bleaching agent and an antioxidant exerting good effects.
SOLUTION: A coumarone skeleton-bearing low-molecular compound having bleaching and antioxidizing effects, contained in Daedalea dickinsii (Berk. ex Cooke) Yasuda cultured mycelia, is isolated, refined, and its structure is determined. This compound is found to have high bleaching, antioxidizing and active oxygen removing effects. Therefore, by formulating this compound and its derivative(s) in skin care preparations, foods, pharmaceuticals, etc., the objective bleaching agent, antioxidant and active oxygen remover each exerting good effects can be provided.
