PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To identify an abnormal area such as an artifact by using a plurality of ultrasonic echo images, and to create a display image according to the result of identification.SOLUTION: A composing part 20 composes echo images created by two ultrasonic probes 10A and 10B. The composing part 20 computes the similarity of pixels in the images in the vicinity corresponding to the same position within a living body between the two echo images to be composed. If the similarity is less than a threshold, it is determined that the pixels have abnormalities such as artifacts, and the pixel value is changed to a prescribed value such as zero. If the similarity is the threshold or above, the pixel values in the respective echo images are weighted and added by a weight set according to the similarity.COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT【課題】複数の超音波エコー画像を用いてアーティファクト等の異常部分を識別し、その識別結果に応じた表示画像を生成できるようにする。【解決手段】2つの超音波プローブ10A、10Bが生成したエコー画像を合成部20により合成する。合成部20は、合成する2つのエコー画像の間で、生体内での同一位置に該当する画素の近傍の画像同士の類似度を計算する。そして、類似度が閾値未満であれば、その画素はアーティファクト等の異常が生じている画素と判定し、画素値を0等の所定の値にする。類似度が閾値以上である場合は、各エコー画像における当該画素の画素値を、類似度に応じて定めた重みにより重み付け加算する。【選択図】図1
