The invention relates to a surgical instrument (1 12) for introducing an implant comprising a shaft (2) wherein the shaft is suitable for accommodating the implant in particular a screw (9 15) having a cannula (4) at the proximal end of the shaft wherein the shaft (2) has a cannulation and a handle (3) which is connected to the shaft (2) at a distal end of the shaft (2). According to the invention the shaft (2) has a slit (6).
