#$%^&*AU2018201752B120181115.pdf#####ELECTROSURGICAL FORCEPS FOR GRASPING, TREATING, AND/OR DIVIDING TISSUE ABSTRACT An electrosurgical forceps (100), comprising: first and second shaft members (110, 120) each including an inner frame (114, 124), a jaw member (210, 220) secured to and extending distally from the inner frame (114, 124), and an outer housing (116, 126) surrounding a portion of the inner frame (114, 124); a pivot member (130) pivotably coupling the inner frames (114, 124) of the first and second shaft members (110, 120) to one another such that pivoting of the first and second shaft members (110, 120) relative to one another between spaced-apart and approximated positions pivots the jaw members (210, 220) relative to one another between open and closed positions; a knife (140) selectively translatable through the first shaft member (110) from a retracted position to an extended position wherein the knife (140) extends at least partially between the jaw members (210, 220); a knife deployment mechanism (150) operably coupled to the first shaft member (110), the knife deployment mechanism (150) including at least one trigger and at least one linkage coupling the at least one trigger with the knife (140) such that pivoting of the at least one trigger relative to the first shaft member (110) translates the knife (140) between the retracted and extended positions; and a knife lockout (170) including a cantilever arm (174) biased towards a locked position inhibiting distal translation of the knife (140), the cantilever arm (174) movable upon approximation of the jaw members (114, 124) from the locked position to an unlocked position to permit distal translation of the knife (140).
