A method of detecting occlusions in a medical fluid communication system comprising a fluid reservoir (115), a fluid path (308) connected between the fluid reservoir (115) and a patient, a fluid delivery device ( 130) and a pressure sensor (310) within the fluid path (308) in contact with the medical fluid to directly measure a pressure of the fluid within the fluid path (308), the method comprising the steps of: measuring the pressure of a medication fluid in a fluid path (308) of a medical fluid communication system during a current interval with the online pressure sensor (310) that directly detects the pressure of the medication fluid; determine from pressure measurements whether a flow of the drug fluid is successful or unsuccessful; wherein determining whether the drug fluid is flowing further comprises: calculating a minimum pressure of the current range; and comparing the minimum pressure in the current range with the pressure data from a previous range, where the drug fluid flow is unsuccessful if the minimum pressure exceeds the pressure data in the previous range; characterized in that the pressure data of the previous interval are based on the calculation of a maximum pressure of the previous interval and a minimum pressure of the previous interval; and where the calculation is W * PMAX + (1-W) * PMIN, where PMAX is the maximum pressure of the previous interval, PMIN is the minimum pressure of the previous interval and W is a set of weights based on sensitivity.Un método para detectar oclusiones en un sistema de comunicación de fluido médico que comprende un depósito de fluido (115), una vía de fluido (308) conectada entre el depósito de fluido (115) y un paciente, un dispositivo de administración de fluido (130) y un sensor de presión (310) dentro de la vía de fluido (308) en contacto con el fluido médico para medir directamente una presión del fluido dentro de la vía de fluido (308), comprendiendo el método las etapas de: medir la presión de un fluido
