Disclosed herein is a method of reducing inflammation in a patient with a chronic condition, such as Parkinsons disease or Alzheimers disease. The method includes applying surface acoustic waves to the patient, such that the surface acoustic waves promote receptor mediated uptake of a target protein. For Parkinsons disease, the application of SAW promoted Fc-receptor mediated uptake of α-synuclein to reduce inflammation in the patient and alleviate symptoms related to Parkinsons disease.
