PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray imaging apparatus capable of photographing the breast to the root while reducing a subjects pain in positioning, and an application method of the X-ray imaging apparatus.SOLUTION: The X-ray imaging apparatus 10 comprises a photographing base 22 formed to allow the breast N of the subject W in a standing position abuts on a photographing surface 20, and a breast wall pad 30 detachably stuck to the subject sidewall surface of the photographing base. An upper edge part 30U of the breast wall pad 30 is separated downward from the photographing surface 20 by a distance L within a range of 20-40 mm.
