The present invention provides a disposable absorbent article, suitable to be worn about the lower torso of a wearer, comprising: - a front section (9), a back section (10), having oppositely disposed edges (11, 12) and a crotch section (4) - an absorbent medium disposed on at least said crotch section (4), and a pair of stretchable side panels (2, 3) disposed on respective opposite side portions of said back section (4), each side panel comprising an upper transversal edge (20) and an opposite lower transversal edge (21), at least one stretchable side panel (2, 3) comprising an elastic zone (13), characterized in that said elastic zone is provided with a visual marker which allows to recognize that a predetermined threshold of elongation is reached in said elastic zone.
