Disclosed herein are devices, kits, and method embodiments that provide for the production of a modified autologous platelet mixture at the patient bedside for simultaneous reinjection into a patient using a platelet lysis device. A typical platelet lysis device includes a sample tube and a source of compressed gas connected to or near the sample tube. The compressed gas source provides the release of inflation gas in direct or indirect contact with the outer surface of the sample tube, freezing the platelet-containing mixture within the sample tube.
