The present invention relates to an exhaust device for removably or permanently connecting to a personal respiratory protection device comprising at least one exhalation valve and limiting the amount of filtered air adjacent to the wearer's face. The exhaust device includes an electric blower in fluid connection with at least one exhalation valve, the blower operable to draw a portion of the wearer's exhalation through the at least one exhalation valve. The use of such an exhaust device to removably connect to a personal respiratory protection device eliminates heat and moisture buildup inside the respiratory system, so that the use of the respirator in difficult work, and/or prolonged work, and/or in hot and humid environmental conditions.
