<；P>；PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for obtaining sodium chondroitin sulfate obtained from animal cartilage as a raw material in the form of calcium chondroitin sulfate absorbable in the body. <；P>；SOLUTION: The method for producing a chondroitin sulfate protein complex having counter ion of calcium comprises grinding animal cartilage, treating the ground cartilage with an acid, then with an enzyme, drying and powdering the obtained digestive fluid. The method for producing a purified chondroitin sulfate protein complex having counter ion of calcium comprises reacting a chondroitin sulfate protein complex having counter ion of sodium obtained from animal cartilage with a calcium compound in an acidic solution, removing isolated sodium and excessive calcium by a separation method selected from an ion exchange resin, a dialysis membrane, an ion-exchange membrane and an ultrafiltration membrane, drying and powdering the obtained solution.
