A system, method and apparatus for mounting a wind turbine using a rootedtree, that is alive or dead, asthe wind turbine tower structure. A method for pruning of the tree top, calledtree top mount preparation, toallow a wind turbine to be mounted on top is described herein. The apparatus,termed a tree top mount,affixes to the prepared tree top and acts as a wind turbine mounting point. Anencompassing tree top windfarm system is described herein, which will allow a forest, alive or dead, tobe altered such that the managedforest's overall kinetic energy of wind potential, made available to windturbines mounted according to themethod described herein, will be increased.
