Provided is a tympanic membrane or ear canal regenerationagent comprising a combination of a gelatin sponge thatcarries basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) and a coveringmaterial. The covering material is used not only to fix thegelatin sponge to the affected portion, but also for thepurpose of preventing drying and infections to provide aculturing environment that is favorable for regeneratingtissue isolated from the outside. To promote tissueregeneration, the margin of the tympanic membrane or ear canaldefect is preferably freshened in advance.26
