The present invention relates to an apparatus for tractioning the spine so that the spine can be lifted up automatically or manually, characterized by tractioning the upper body of a patient in the direction perpendicular to the ground through tension which is provided to a traction sling by a motor, thereby allowing the spine to be lifted up. According to the present invention, a working point functioning as a traction point is positioned at the center of gravity of a triangle formed by connecting the coronoid processes of both the shoulder blades and the first thoracic vertebra of a patient so that the spine of the patient is tractioned and vertically lifted up during the traction of the working point. In addition, in terms of the spinal traction level, the motor provides tension on the basis of a patients measured weight, and thus provides a traction level efficient in treating disks. Furthermore, the spinal traction apparatus according to the present invention is attachable to and detachable from a chair, fixable and movable, and enables convenient spinal traction during the daily life of a patient due to there being no need to adjust the height of the chair during the traction. Also, using a controller, a user can control the traction level manually in accordance with the body condition of the patient.
