The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising an Epimedium koreanum NAKAI extract as an active ingredient for preventing and treating viral diseases. The Epimedium koreanum NAKAI extract of the present invention increases cellular survival in a cell infected with virus such as vesicular stomatitis virus, Newcastle disease virus, herpes virus, rhinovirus, and the like, and reduces the number of viruses in the cell. Therefore, the composition can be usefully used as a pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating viral diseases with respect to vesicular stomatitis virus, Newcastle disease virus, herpes virus, and rhinovirus by inhibiting the proliferation of the virus in the cell.본 발명은 음양곽(Epimediumkoreanum) 추출물을 유효성분으로 함유하는 바이러스성 질환 예방 및 치료용 약학적 조성물에 관한 것으로, 본 발명의 음양곽 추출물은 수포성구내염바이러스, 뉴캐슬병 바이러스, 허피스 바이러스 및 리노바이러스 등의 바이러스가 감염된 세포에서 세포 생존을 늘리고, 세포 내 바이러스 수를 감소시키는 것을 확인하였으며, 세포 내 바이러스의 증식을 억제하므로 수포성구내염바이러스, 뉴캐슬병 바이러스, 허피스 바이러스 및 리노 바이러스에 대한 바이러스성 질환 예방 및 치료용 약학적 조성물로 유용하게 사용할 수 있다.
