The invention is directed to a plant container, comprising an outer member and an inner member. The inner member is positioned in or partly within the outer member such that the bottom of the inner member is spaced from the bottom of the outer member to form a space for a water reservoir. A wick runs from the interior of the inner member to the water reservoir. The side wall of the outer member is transparent and at least partly covered at its exterior side by a cover member. The cover member has a window or opening to allow inspection of the water level in said water reservoir.
