Disclosed are processes for preparing peptide boron esters of formula (II) where the substituents are as disclosed in the description. Example of the process is the preparing of 2,2&rsquo；-{ 2-[(1R)-1-({ [(2,5-dichlorobenzoyl)amino]acetyl} amino)-3-methylbutyl]-5-oxo-1,3,2-dioxaborolane-4,4-diyl} diacetic acid, the process comprising reacting an intermediate consisting of a boronate ester trimer, with citric acid. The compounds of formula (II) are useful in treating cancer.
