The problem addressed by the present invention is to provide an antimicrobial composition that exhibits high antimicrobial properties even in an emulsified system and has high antimicrobial properties even against molds. The present invention provides an antimicrobial composition containing a diol compound represented by general formula (1) as component (A) and benzyl oxyethanol as component (B) to solve the above problem.
