PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a general term for bacteria that produce lactic acid by metabolism, and even lactic acid bacteria belonging to Enterococcus faecalis have different properties depending on each lactic acid bacterium. Therefore, through repeated extraction, research, and examination of lactic acid bacteria, we have found a lactic acid bacterium that has properties different from those of the standard product of lactic acid bacteria belonging to Enterococcus faecalis in terms of immune activity and the like. The present invention provides a lactic acid bacterium belonging to Enterococcus faecalis deposited under the accession number: NITE P-02789. In addition, the present invention provides a dead lactic acid bacterium. Furthermore, the present invention provides foods and antibacterial compositions containing the lactic acid bacteria.
