PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an indwelling needle and a puncture needle which show excellent operability, enable a smooth puncture on a patient, and reduce a burden on the patient.SOLUTION: A detecting groove 24 which extends along the puncture needle 16 in the axial direction and is dented in the radially inward direction is formed on the peripheral surface 16a of the puncture needle 16 formed into a tubular shape. The detecting groove 24 is composed of first concave parts 26 which are recessed to have a prescribed depth relative to the peripheral surface 16a and second concave parts 28 which are recessed deeper relative to the first concave part 26. The second concave parts 28 are disposed to be equally spaced along the detecting groove 24 in the direction of extension.
