In accordance with the instant invention, Factor V peptides for the modulation of thrombin generation are provided. In a particular embodiment, the peptide has at least 80% homology with SEQ ID NO: 1, 2, 3 or 4. Nucleic acid molecules encoding the peptides are also encompassed by the instant invention. Compositions comprising at least one peptide and/or nucleic acid of the instant invention and at least one pharmaceutically acceptable earner are also provided.
