A sectioned metering system and method is provided. One meteringsystem for distributing an agricultural product in a field includes a driveinput and arotary shaft assembly coupled to the drive input and configured to be driveninrotation by the drive input. The metering system also includes a firstmetering sectiondriven by the rotary shaft assembly and at least two additional meteringsections.Each additional metering section is selectively engageable to drive therespectiveadditional metering section by the rotary shaft assembly. Each additionalmeteringsection is also selectively disengageable to interrupt driving of therespectiveadditional metering section by the rotary shaft assembly while the firstmeteringsection remains driven.
