PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus capable of changing an image contrast with a pulse for a prescribed purpose such as labeling, fat control, or inversion while keeping the phase continuity of spins in imaging using an SSFP sequence.SOLUTION: The magnetic resonance imaging apparatus includes a data collection means and an image data generating means. The data collection means collects data according to a sequence derived by adding a coherent control pulse, which has a center substantially at the center time between adjacent high frequency excitations and in which the zero-order moment amount is zero, on a Steady-State Free Precession pulse sequence for repeating high frequency excitations at regular intervals a plurality of times. The image data generation means generates image data from the collected data.
