A hair styling composition containing bamboo extract is provided to prevent hair breakage and maintain desiring hair style in a long time. A hair styling composition comprises 0.1~20 weight% of bamboo extract and 0.1~30 wieght% of setting agent. The composition also comprises water or ethanol solvent. The setting agent is polyvinylpyrrolidone, polyvinylpyrrolidone/vinylacetate copolymer, vinylpyrrolidone/methacrylamide/vinylimidazole copolymer, polyvinylalcohol, polyethnyleneglycol, poly quaternium, methacryloylethybetaine/methacrylate copolymer, acrylate/octyl acrylamide copolymer, acrylate/t-butylacrylamide copolymer, or octyl acrylamide/acrylate/butylaminoethylmethacrylate.
