PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external preparation for skin, which is excellent in stability, excellent in a chapped skin-improving effect and a wrinkle-preventing/improving effect as skin ageing-preventing effects, gives tension to the skin, prevents stains to brighten the skin, is well compatible with the skin, is free from stickiness and the like, and gives excellent senses of use.
SOLUTION: There is provided the external preparation for the skin, characterized by containing (a) an oil-soluble plant extract containing astaxanthin compounds and extracted from the flower petals of Adonis palaestina, Adonis microcarpa, Adonis annua or Adonis aestivalis, in genus Adonis of Ranunculaceae in an amount of 0.0001 to 0.2 mass%, on the basis of total amount of the composition, as an active ingredient of the astaxanthin compounds, (b) a 4 to 8C dihydric alcohol in an amount of 2 to 15 mass%, (c) a polyphenol in an amount of 0.0001 to 0.2 mass%, and (d) a chelate agent in an amount 0.1 to 2 mass%.
