PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transparent gel-like composition which contains astaxanthin, improves stability of astaxanthin even under high temperature condition and/or ultraviolet visible light irradiation condition, is prevented from deterioration and fading, and is capable of stably securing the properties as a formulation without the possibility of separation.SOLUTION: A transparent gel-like composition contains the following components (a)-(d): (a) carotenoid, (b) an oil solution with 2-4 ester bonds in a molecule which is liquid at 25°C, (c) polyhydric alcohol, and (d) an alkyl-modified carboxyvinyl polymer and/or a carboxyvinyl polymer.
