Disclosed herein is a valve assembly (14) comprising a male luer end portion(38) and a female luer end portion (36) and a passage for the transfer offluids extending between the male and female luer end portions, valve means(44) movable between a first position, in which the passage is closed, and asecond position, in which the passage is open, biasing means (64) for biasingthe valve means toward the first position, and actuating means (46) extendinginto the male luer end portion and coupled to the valve means to actuate thevalve means when a female luer end portion of a medical accessory is engagedwith the male luer end portion.
