Первый обвивной многостежковый шов накладывают, последовательно прокалывая межреберья на уровне тела грудины от мечевидно-грудинного сочленения до рукоятки грудины, второй обвивной шов накладывают от уровня последнего вкола перед рукояткой грудины, далее обшивают рукоятку и заканчивают вколами над грудиной через место прикрепления сухожилия грудинно-ключично-сосцевидной мышцы, затем одновременно натягивают концы лигатуры, прошитой у тела грудины, и второй лигатуры, прошитой на уровне рукоятки, до сближения краев распила грудины, в натянутом состоянии лигатуры поочередно завязывают, формируя вначале бабий узел, который натягивают до упора, далее накладывают 7-10 хирургических узлов. Способ позволяет предотвратить прорезывание швами грудины, создать условия для равномерного распределения дыхательных и кашлевых нагрузок
